Sage’s Story

Success...
When Sage came to Kane Humane she was a 3 1/2 year old lab that has been living on a chain.  Her past had not been the greatest as she has moved around a few times. The friends of the original owner took her when they received a call from their friend asking them to take her because she was being abused by another individual in the family.  Soon after, the man who took her became disabled and could no longer take care of her and she was put outside on a chain.
We received a call from another concerned citizen and contacted Sage's people, who then agreed to give custody of Sage to The Kane Humane Project.
We picked her up and brought her to the clinic where she was examined, received her shots, was microchiped and had a manicure.
Sage no longer had to live on a chain and enjoyed her temporary foster home where she began to recover from her past ordeal.
Now after 4 months in a Kane Humane Foster Home, Sage has found her forever home!
She went to a wonderful home with Peggy and Gary at 10 am, February 15th, 2010.  It took Sage all of 30 seconds to warm up to Gary.  An amazing accomplishment considering the fact that she had a fear of men when she first came to us.  All it took was for Gary to extend his hand; Sage first sniffed it, then licked it, and all was well from that point on.
With Peggy, there was no problem;  Sage greeted her like a long lost friend even though she had only met Peggy once before.
From living on a chain for 2 1/2 years, to a caring Kane Humane Foster Home with Terry and Phyllis, to a loving forever home.  A story we enjoy telling!
The Kane Humane Project is an all-volunteer organization.
