Lea’s Story

Success...
Lea was found abandoned, along with Jasper, on March 25, 2009 about 40 miles north of Flagstaff running in and out of speeding traffic. A couple traveling picked her up and brought her to their hotel room in Kanab for the night. They also bought her a collar and leash and fed her.
Kane Humane was contacted and she was placed in foster care.
She was born in or around December 2008 and is extremely smart. While in Foster Care she learned to "sit and shake paw". She does not always shake the right paw, but then is there a wrong paw?
Lea was adopted while at the Community Care Fair sponsored by Best Friends.  She was adopted by the soon to be Mayor of Kanab, Nina Laycook, and her husband Lloyd.
Nina and Lloyd had stopped by the Community Care Fair with no intention of adopting as they were simply on their way to do some grocery shopping.  They crossed paths with Lea, spent a few minutes with her and carried on with their shopping needs and went home. A couple of hours later they came back with their dog Honey and asked if she could meet Lea.  The meeting went very well and they asked to Adopt Lea.  As it was evident that it was a great match, with a great couple and a great home for Lea, the adoption was approved!
Lea loves her new "Sister" and Mom & Dad and they all simply adore her.  She has chosen a favorite toy and blanket and they are now HERS.
She has a large fenced in back yard to play in with Honey and they share the house equally.

Everyone at Kane Humane will miss you Lea! We wish you the best with your new life and hope you will stop by and say “Hi” from time to time!
